I began as an English and History teacher and saw it as a way of telling stories for a living. In 2005, my first novel was published and the following year, the next two. I’m still writing but have developed a career as a speaker on the side – I go along to events and entertain the audience by telling stories about Irish childhood and all the things I learned from the nuns (mainly that what they taught and what I thought were very different…)
Good to hear you’re a wannabe. First trick it to rename yourself. From now on you’re a gonnabe. Then keep writing.

So Adrienne, did you become seanachai, then? The first one I ever met was Juilene Osborne-McKnight–who happens to be a writer and teacher too. I am an Irish wannabe and spent most of my college career writing about the Irish. Thank goodness I was never good enough at volleyball (it’s my favorite sport, but I’m far from athletic) to play against you!
